Why Biafrans Advocated Boycott for 2019 Election

Biafran group identified as Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB,  has disclosed its intention to boycott the forthcoming general elections in the country.

The group has also appealed to the southern and middle belt in the country to join it in its plan to ensure that the election does not hold.

The group made this appeal during its rally which was carried out on Tuesday, to mark the 17th anniversary of the movement.

News has it that, the rally which took place in Awka, Anambra State was also used by the group to express its opinion on the July 14th governorship election in Ekiti State in which Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the APC emerged winner of the gubernatorial seat.

The group alleged that the election was massively rigged in favour of the ruling All Progressives Party which makes it worrisome on the free and fair conduct of the forthcoming general elections slated for next year.

MASSOB urges Igbo politicians to abstain from all plans concerning the forthcoming elections as they perceived that if the election is successfully conducted, the Igbos would lose out and that means the Igbos would not be represented fully making decisions concerning the affairs of the country.

In the words of the group’s Director of Publicity, Samuel Edeson “MASSOB is calling on the Western, Eastern and Middle Belt regions to frustrate and disallow every political step and programme of Buhari’s INEC in preparation towards the greatest political fraud called 2019 general elections. The 2019 general election is a political genocide.”

“The Buhari-led Federal Government has already perfected plans with his brother in charge of INEC to rule this political entity called Nigeria by all means.”

“It is a protest against injustice, a protest against marginalisation, a protest against intimidation and a protest against tribalism.”
